It is hard to believe that after an absence of 12 years the British and Irish Masters returns to Belfast tomorrow. Normally on the eve of the races NI Masters hosts a dinner where numbers are distributed, and a few words of thanks and encouragement are shared with the team. As this is a home event we felt that most athletes would likely prefer not to travel to and from the headquarters hotel on the night before the competition. Accordingly, numbers will be available for collection from 9am tomorrow morning at the NIMAA gazebo at Billy Neill, as will commemorative goody bags for all team members.
Those who are yet to collect a vest will also be able to do so at the gazebo, as will those who have ordered additional kit. Tomorrow is going to be a great day of athletics. On behalf of Northern Ireland Masters I want to offer a word of congratulations to all those selected. I know you will run to the best of your ability as you represent the smallest of the five nations competing.
And to those who were selected but unfortunately have had to pull out injured we know there will be disappointment. Hopefully however everyone will soon recover and get back to competition. Next year’s international will come around before we know it and there will be another opportunity to represent your country.
See you all tomorrow. Sleep well tonight. Nigel Quinn
Chair of NIMAA
